Is VPN your organisation's best friend?

VPN technology Blu5

Blu5 recognised Sample Vendor in Gartner Market Guide for Virtual Private Networks, 2020, Rob Smith, Jeremy D'Hoinne, 3 November 2020.

VPN technology is straightforward: securely connect and share data with someone or something you trust and value to a remote resource via an untrusted network.
Experts have long advised that this approach is no longer suited in a scenario where the traditional notion of a corporate perimeter dissolves, and we assist to a shift from a controlled perimeter to a perimeter-less work environment.

According to a Verizon report stating that nearly 15% of all data breaches out of 20% of all cybersecurity incidents, originate from privilege misuse, we question whether traditional security models, based on the assumption that users and devices inside the network perimeter are “trusted,” are still the correct way to conduct business! Our answer is NO!

Blu5 Zero Trust approach is based on the assumption that all devices and networks maybe be compromised and consequently implement fine-grained access control policies to organisation resources.
The core concepts of Bu5 approach are:

  1. Authenticate every User, ensuring authenticity before access to a the whitelisted resource is ever granted
  2. Validates the Device, enabling access from trusted devices only, minimising endpoint threat vectors and increasing endpoint security posture.
  3. Implement Adaptive Access Policies, to minimise the attack surface, limiting lateral movement and reducing business-disruptive attacks.
